Between Jallais and Beaupréau stands the ancient Château de la Chaperonnière on the course of the Evre. Today, it is no more than a farm and it shows some signs of dilapidation.
It was built in the 9th century. It was one of the castles of the Duke of Anjou, Foulques III Nerra.
On his death, the castle became the property of a man named Jean Chaperon (hence its current name "chaperonière") from one of the most powerful families in Anjou.
