The wooden pond was created by damming the fish stream. It belonged to the branch of the Nuremberg correctional facility, which was operated here from 1952 to 1970. The prisoners worked there during the day and were returned to their cells in the evening. Agricultural areas, a tree nursery, animal breeding and some ponds with fish stock emerged. At the northern end of the lake is the old entrance to the penitentiary.
