The church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1765 in the Thuringian Rococo style. It is one of the largest churches in this architectural style and was built to replace a building in which Thomas Müntzer worked and taught. The tower was built between 1790 and 1800. The bells are completely preserved in their original form, and the bells date from 1345 to 1683.
