It's home to a host of historic buildings including the 13th-century church, the 15th-century Monk's Barn and The Crown House from the 16th-century adorned with 17th-century pargetting. It is a popular commuting town to both Cambridge and London. Being on the railway, it also makes for a great start or finish point for a walk exploring the Essex countryside.
