The Kirnbergsee was actually dammed around a hundred years ago to supply electricity. Today, the 35-hectare lake is a popular meeting place for hikers, cyclists, anglers and water sports enthusiasts. You will find sunny, well-kept beaches around the warmest bathing lake in the Black Forest. Ice cream, coffee and cake are available in the beach café and if you have a tent with you, you can pitch it at the campsite directly on the lake shore.

Planned in 1920 as a reservoir and built between 1921 and 1922, the Kirnbergsee was used to generate electricity. The fact that a considerable nature reserve has also been created is a very welcome achievement. Between 1999 and 2000 the dam was completely renovated at great expense. Thus the future of the wonderfully situated Kirnbergsee was secured.
