The Paracas Peninsula is part of this national sanctuary, home to maned seals, blue-footed boobies, pelicans and Humboldt penguins. The nearby archipelago of Islas Ballestas, which is part of the reserve, is also known for its extremely rich animal life. The island of Candelabro de Paracas features huge lines carved into the rock, resembling the world-famous Nazca Lines. However, they are significantly younger and probably served
