Layna is a small town of stone houses located in the vast Campo Taranz or Layna moor. An extensive plateau at an altitude of 1,000 meters, historically unpopulated and a transition path between Molina de Aragón and Medinaceli. The Layna páramo is mentioned several times in the Cantar de Mio Cid and reference is made to the harshness of transit through this uninhabited area where temperatures of 11 degrees below zero can be reached in winter.
