The stone-slab houses of the viacrucis date from the first baroque calvary, from 1798, originally located on a road in the mountains that is still called Carrer del Calvari today. Already at the end of the 19th century, and on the initiative of the charismatic rector of Santa Maria de l'Énova, Monsignor Romà Quilis (1897-1900), the neighbors or parishioners of the town climbed the chapels up there, during Lent and with carts of oxen (1886).
They did it as a thank you to the Holy Christ of Health for ending the terrible Asian Morbo Cholera epidemic of 1885.
The financing of the work on the Calvary and the construction of the new chapel was done by collecting alms during street rosaries.

The temperature was just below 30 degrees and that was fine for this walk, which was most of the time in the sun. The first part of the walk was more challenging than the second part. In this case that was good because of the temperature. There were no other people taking this walk, so it was very quiet. There were some nice views to other places like Xativa.
