The way does not go over the canal. It leads over the Winzer Höhenweg.
Drive into the Rabenkellerweg. At the end of the dead end street, after the last house up on the right. Narrow short path. Continue left at the first junction. Then you go up to the Winzer Höhen at the edge of the forest.Once at the top there are vantage points within 2km:
