Bronze statue in memory of the actor, dancer, comedian and writer Albert Mol, who died in 2004.
In 1958 he played the leading role in the film “Fanfare”. This film, which was largely shot in Giethoorn, is considered a milestone in Dutch film history.
With more than 2.6 million cinema visitors, the film was the second most successful Dutch film of all time.
The film ensured that Giethoorn became known to the general public and put the water village on the map.
The statue was made by Wim Kuijl and unveiled on October 18, 2008.
