The Sokolnice nature reserve is the property of the Mendel University in Brno, it is managed by the Bílovice nad Svitavou forest of the Masaryk Forest of Křtiny School Forestry. The Sokolnice nature reserve is located southeast of the Moravian metropolis of Brno, near the town of Šlapanice, between the villages of Kobylnice and Sokolnice, in the valley floodplain of the Zlaté brook, which flows through its center. The area of the nature reserve is 53 ha, of which 46 ha is forest. Some trees reach a respectable age and are protected as monuments and from a natural point of view. The park is dominated by an avenue formed by a horsetail. An interesting feature is the historical wall of the nature reserve, which commemorates the Napoleonic Wars in 1805. In the immediate vicinity is a park with a castle, in which a Home for the elderly is in operation.
The nature reserve is open to the public for most of the year. Due to the necessary information for visitors, e.g. about the establishment of the nature reserve, its history, flora and fauna, farmed animals and the regulation of people's movement, the management of ŠLP ML Křtina MENDELU decided to build an educational trail and thus bring this unique location closer to everyone with a rich variety of both plant and animal species. and animal species.
