"The Marekerk is one of the most beautiful old buildings of Leiden, its round dome dominates the skyline of the city.The Marekerk was built in 1649 and is one of the first churches designed for Protestant Mass. The church has a special shape: an octagonal central building It was built especially for Protestant Masses, with the pulpit in the center and the churches and benches of the parish clustered around them.

The octagonal church with its beautiful chandeliers is an atmospheric venue with plenty of options, from a dinner for 100 people to an event for up to 550 people theater style or a standing reception for 700 people. The church and adjoining Marehuis are regularly rented for conventions, dinners, receptions and other events, except on Sundays and public holidays.

The total area of the listed Marekerk covers approximately 400 m2. With permanently installed pews, the church can accommodate over 500 guests. The seats in the pews are very atmospheric and serve as a beautiful subdivision. The Marekerk has a modern sound system that can be used for seminars and other activities. In winter, the Marekerk can be optimally heated.

The Marehuis borders the Marekerk. This is a splendid canal building with various meeting rooms, a large kitchen and an attic. The largest room can accommodate 65 people in theater style. The main entrance to the Marehuis is just 100 meters from the entrance of the Marekerk (on the Oude Vest), but the building is also accessible from the church.

The rooms are basically rented only in combination with the church.

Leiden Central Station is about a 10-minute walk from the church. There are parking facilities for visitors along the Oude Vest. Parking is free along the Oude Vest before 9:00 and after 21:00. There is a large car park on the Langegracht at the supermarket Digros, just a few minutes walk from the church. The Oude Vest can also be reached by boat.
