There is actually always a rope on one side of the stairs to hold on to - if you always go slowly and carefully, nothing can actually happen. However, you should have enough water with you - and time to be able to take frequent breaks on the way back up. The effort is rewarded by beautiful views and, once at the bottom, the possibility of a swim on the cliffs of Mount Buciero.
