The Schoterse forests form a green lung a short distance from the center of Tessenderlo where mainly local residents walk. It is the intention of Natuurpunt Tessenderlo and other stakeholders to make this nature reserve of approximately 10 hectares more attractive in the near future. In the 1960s, quite a few nature houses were built in parts of the Schoter woods, often in chalet form and especially on the edges. Some evolved into permanent residences. In addition, there are central paths in the area, each named after an animal: the squirrel path, the fox path, the hare path, the marten path, the rabbit path, the weasel path and the deer path. There are quite a few small forest paths in between. When planning walks, the Schoterse woods are ideally located. In the south, they are more or less bordered by the Gerhagenstraat, which leads from Tessenderlo center to the Gerhagen nature reserve. This road is currently being reconstructed with cycle paths. In the north of the Schoters forests there is also a lot of nature where you can walk to the Baalberg nature reserve komoot.nl/highlight/5200449The Schoterse Bossen has no such thing as a main entrance today. That is why local residents often prefer to go by bicycle or car to the highly developed Gerhagen nature reserve. However, the intention is to gradually phase out the weekend stays and in any case to prevent further renovation, whereby the Schoterse Bossen will play a more important role in the future, not only as a green lung and connecting nature area, but as a more accessible nature area.In any case, it is already pleasant to walk today, so take it with you on your round. The Schoterse Bossen on the site of Natuurpunt: natuurpunt.be/natuurgebied/schoterse-bossenThe Schoterse Bossen on the walk "Stilte in Tessenderlo" that passes norbertijnenindemerode.be/nl/worldroutes/stilte-in-tessenderloPS: I have asked Komoot to use the location Google gives instead of this not quite correct segment: 51°03'32.1"N 5°03'32.4"E. Of course, the whole green marked zone is around part of the forests, just like the mentioned paths with animal names.
