In the heart of the Dolenjska region, just a few kilometers north of Trebnje, on a 544-meter-high hill, like a crown to the entire near and far surroundings, lies the Church of the Holy Cross of Mary Help of Christians in Zaplaz. The reputation of this divine path is so great that for a long time it was called Brezje in Dolen. In the same year 1800, when the chapel of Mary Help of Christians was built in Brezje, according to tradition, the first chapel in Zaplaz was also built.
