The Sülfeld lock group is located in the Wolfsburg district of Sülfeld and is a central bottleneck of the Mittellandkanal (MLK). It overcomes a height difference of 9 meters between the summit level (heading west) and the east level of the canal. The facility was originally built as a double lock with two identical shaft locks and officially commissioned in 1938.
