The Piave is an Italian river that originates in the Carnic Alps (Mount Peralba), covering its first kilometers in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and then crossing the entire Veneto region from north to south. It is known in Italy as the Sacred River of the Fatherland by virtue of the historical significance of the events that took place along its banks during the Great War.

do you understand where you are? The town takes its name from the intersection of two roads: the natural one, the Piave, and the ancient one (Roman and previous), La Callalta, which united the lands of Veneto to those of Venezia Giulia.
The town has always been there, Piave permitting: first it was on the other side of the river, then a flood in the 19th century caused it to be rebuilt in the upstream area.
Always be careful of this furious river!
