This is a superb viewpoint for the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It's just a short uphill hike from the Piñon Flats Campground or there's parking on the Medano Pass road. After taking in the views, you could continue to explore the region on either the Sand Ramp Trail or the spectacular Mosca Pass Trail.
