However, it should be remembered that the Wiar is a very capricious river, rapidly rising during rainfall, hence setting up a camp by the water in the event of an unexpected flood wave can lead to a tragedy.
Friends told me how, during a bicycle trip in the 1980s, they sheltered from a downpour in an unfinished brick building near the river. It was evening, they were waiting there for the rain to stop. After a short time, the water flooded the area, broke into the ground floor, so they escaped to the second floor - they were lucky that the building was two-story and had stairs ready. They had no way to call for help, because there were no cell phones back then. They had to wait until morning, in the dark, on concrete. Unforgettable adventure :-/
