The Michelbach reservoir is a retention basin. Together with the Katzenbach and Ehmetsklingen reservoirs, it is intended to regulate the inflow to the Zaber. The lake is only accessible at the dam wall, otherwise it is overgrown all around. Opposite is the Spitzenberg, with which the lake forms the "Spitzenberg-Michelbach-Baiershälde" nature reserve, which is 46 hectares in size.
