Sant Quirze d'Olmells is a church in the municipality of Llers (Alt Empordà) protected as a cultural asset of local interest.

    Description

Located about three kilometers southwest of the town of Llers, next to the Palau creek, between the Molar farm and the Oliveres farm, in the middle of the forest.

It is a church with a single nave topped to the east by a rectangular apse. The apse retains the original roof, with a barrel vault, while the nave has a restored two-sided roof. Both spaces are connected by means of a semi-circular triumphal arch of reduced dimensions and very closed. Around the nave there is a bank of work, preserved in part. As for the openings, there are two windows, the one in the apse with a single split and semicircular arches, and the window in the south wall of the nave, with the appearance of a loophole on the outside, and completely returned In the southern wall of the apse there is another opening corresponding to a pre-Romanesque window, which has deteriorated over time. The original door was located on the south wall, it was a dovetailed semi-circular arch and was later repaired. At present, the earlier slitted window is open in the walling of this old opening. The new door, also with a half-pointed arch, is located on the west facade and is much later than the previous one. At the top of this facade stands a bell tower from the modern era, formed by a single semi-circular arch made of bricks. Reinforcing the south-east corner of the temple there is a low buttress.[1]

The building apparatus is made of small well-cut limestone blocks, bound together with abundant mortar and arranged in fairly continuous rows. In some places there are rectangular incisions. This characteristic, together with the form of the construction apparatus, gives an idea of the antiquity of the building, which can be dated between the 9th and 10th centuries. , bound with mortar.
