The lighthouse is 46 meters high, a stairway with more than 220 steps leads up. It is a landmark on the east coast of the Algarve and still serves as a reference point for navigation in Portuguese and Spanish waters.
From the top of the tower there are magnificent views of the mountains and the sea, the Andalusian coast, the Guadiana River, the National Forest of the Coastal Dunes and the Bay of Monte Gordo.

It can be visited free of charge on Wednesday afternoons between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
