The ninth edition of the Transcontinental will return to the fabled cobbles of the Muur van Geraardsbergen. The atmosphere created by the townspeople has become part of Transcontinental legend; from the city’s square, to the flaming-torch-lit climb flanked with cowbell-ringing well wishers. Geraardsbergen makes the perfect send-off for our valiant riders.

Historically the Muur-Kapelmuur featured as the penultimate and decisive climb of the Tour of Flanders. The unrelenting cobbled ascent - a 9% average gradient, pitching to 20% on the steepest bends - has shaped many memorable races, creating ‘Flahute’ legends, and thrilling generations of cycling fans. This is a testing start to the riders’ journey to Thessaloniki, and at this point, the Aegean Sea will no doubt feel insurmountably far away.

The Market square of Geraardsbergen, Belgium where traditionally the Starting point for the Transcontinental Race. This is also the famous starting point for the final cobble climbs of one of the biggest cycling Monuments the Tour of Flanders, Muur van Geraardsbergen. It is an absolute classic, and even more so when the town comes out at night for the start of the race. Thank you, Belgium. Plenty of bars to drench the atmosphere too.
