Annweiler Old Town

The Schipkapass is a very prominent place in the old town of Annweiler. Where the name comes from is not known.
1. This place in the former city wall is so narrow that you could only pass it with a wheelbarrow Schipka.
or
2. This passage reminds with its narrowness to the Schipkapass in Bulgaria. A war veteran is said to have told of his experiences from the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877/78 for the liberation of Bulgaria.
No matter how the name arose, the place is very romantic. And right next to it is the museum under the Trifels (annweiler.de/index.cfm?f...).
Whoever stops in Annweiler should definitely take a look!

Nice little old town, at the town hall square there is a fountain and a café. Always along the regional specialties: this is the chestnut cake.
