In order to get a good overall impression of the town of Saint Peter, we recommend the so-called “historical village tour”. It begins at the monastery complex of Saint Peter and can be done as a small (approx. 1/2 to 1 hour) or large (approx. 1 1/2 to 2 hours) tour.

The entertaining descriptions of houses and squares give you an insight into the life of the population at that time. The focus of the route is the life of the villagers since the Zähringer family founded the monastery in 1093.

The development of the community of Saint Peter around the monastery is largely influenced by the generous development plans of Abbot Bürgi and the master builder Peter Thumb. The vastness of these plans can be captured very well on this tour.
