Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Gorge

At a height of 100 m, the Caminito del Rey sticks to the cliffs of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes. The Bearded Vulture Cave – a gorge whose walls rise up to 400 m and which is only 10 m at its narrowest point. Below, the wild waters of the Guadalhorce simmer and rush towards the coast.

This gorge is the most dramatic to encounter when making the Caminito del Rey. One will walk high above the ground along two more gorges : all three together are making up the top highlights of the Caminito.

The Paraje Natural Desfiladero de los Gaitanes nature reserve, which is located here and is made up of spectacular landscapes. It is an impressive gorge through which the Guadalhorce River flows, making its way through large calcified patches.
