The plateau expresses a typical karst plateau better than any other place in the Lombardy Region, here over time the water playing with the rock has created very particular morphologies, the sinkholes constitute the most widespread and most representative element of the landscape of Cariadeghe, they are depressions of the ground of various sizes and depths, we find them juxtaposed to each other, between them the only space for tortuous reliefs on which the paths flow. At the bottom or on the slopes of some sinkholes there are cavities that can be traveled by man, often consisting of real vertical wells; for a long time the inhabitants of Cariadeghe have been able to exploit the unique environmental conditions that characterize the caves, using them for the conservation of local dairy products. The study of the underground cavities conducted by generations of speleologists has highlighted how the Plateau represents the most productive territory of the Brescia Pre-Alps from a hydrogeological point of view and the presence of an underground fauna rich in endemic elements. At first glance, the area, the destination of fantastic walks, appears as an impenetrable wooded barrier broken here and there by the few meadow areas and by the presence of groupings of tall trees or isolated trees of great aesthetic value due to their monumental size, beech, chestnut and hornbeam. There are numerous floristic species protected by national and international laws.

beautiful plateau of karst origin surrounded by chestnut woods. Beautiful challenging ramp just past the Alpine refuge.
