The middle Altmühl Valley has the most stork pairs in all of Bavaria. 12 stork pairs breed here with great regularity and delight young and old, locals and holidaymakers.

The LBV Altmühlsee Environmental Station has therefore launched an innovative cycle path as part of a project that runs along these stork nests. It runs on three circular routes of varying difficulty, which are barrier-free and lead past the nests. On a total of 10 information boards and using various interactive elements, cyclists can learn all sorts of interesting and useful information about the white stork and important protection measures.
