The term Quintanar comes from Latin and means, in general terms, farm or country house. Quintanar de la Sierra is a rural enclave between the Sierra de Neila. The forest mass that surrounds it has been the main economic activity of the place for centuries. Timber exploitation and its transformation through the town's sawmills.
