The current area of the Königswaldchen was used for agriculture until 1850 and then reforested. There is now a 45-hectare recreational forest in the immediate vicinity of the city. In the 1990s alone, the city of Bitburg planted more than 65,000 trees around the Königswaldchen on an area of around 15 hectares. In order to ensure long-term sustainable, environmentally friendly, socially acceptable and economically viable management of the approx. 870 ha large city forest, the forest is managed on the basis of the FSC guideline for sustainable forestry.
In the Königswaldchen there is therefore also a 3 km long forest adventure trail, which presents information about the topic "forest". It gives children and adults the opportunity to rediscover the environment and in particular the forest habitat. 10 different stations invite you to participate, try out and learn.
The Königswaldchen is a very popular local recreation area, where you can find joggers, hikers and walkers.

Flat good and easy to walk paths. Should be good for jogging. Unfortunately, noises from the traffic on the B51 can be heard quite clearly.
