The covered wooden bridge connects Hohenfichte with Metzdorf. It is 55.5 meters long and 4.6 meters wide and spans at this point the 46m wide Flöha.

Covered bridges were built from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century to protect the supporting (wood) elements from weathering. In addition, it was easier for horses to pass through windowless closed bridges, as they usually shy away from the rushing water.
