Very nice path off the country road, but the beginning (coming from the west) is sometimes difficult to drive. Initially cobblestones that were quite slippery at least with wet leaves, then a few thick roots. True east the trail becomes easier and easier to drive.

The so-called Kaiserbahn was a single-track railway line from Bad Oldesloe via Ratzeburg to Hagenow-Land in Mecklenburg. The route is said to have been built at the instigation of Kaiser Wilhelm II because the emperor wanted a shorter route than the one via Lübeck or Hamburg for his trips from Berlin to the Kiel naval base. The route was opened in 1897. When the border was drawn after the Second World War, the route was interrupted and became meaningless. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1962 and freight traffic (mainly sugar beet) was given up in 1971. The railway embankment was removed soon afterwards. A section between Siebenbaumen and Berkenthin still serves as a cycle path, while elsewhere the route can only be made out at individual bends.
