Impressive cliff landscape behind Coastguard Hill. If you arrive by bike, you should take the time for a short hike.

On the side of the peninsula facing the Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs of Horn Head with a height of up to 180 m rise almost vertically out of the sea and represent an internationally important colony for breeding seabirds, including crows and razorbills. The Cliffs have been designated or nominated by the Irish State as a Special Protection Area and European Bird Sanctuary.

Horn Head is home to numerous remnants of Neolithic stone circles, court tombs and passage tombs along with prehistoric field boundaries.

On Horn Head are the remains of two observation towers, one from the Napoleonic Wars, the other from the Second World War. Both have views of the Atlantic Ocean and Tory Island.
