The Hetlinger Schanze is one of the largest nature reserves in Schleswig-Holstein (Haseldorfer Binnenelbe with Elbvorland) along the Elbe and is an important resting place for migratory birds. Snipes, lapwings and bluethroats breed in the meadows of the hill. Peregrine falcons, white-tailed eagles and miniature swans are also common.

As Hetlinger ski jump called the Elbe beach near Hetlingen opposite Lühesand. On the beach are also the highest transmission towers in Europe, called Elbe crossing 1 and 2. It is a popular recreational destination and nature reserve. In former times the most important Elbübergang of the ox route was here.

Lots of space for cyclists and pedestrians. You can cycle on the dike or down the dike. However, you can not always avoid the legacy of the sheep. :-)
