The Birch Creek Historic Ranch is historical rural landscape that consists of 19 buildings and structures like a nearby water wheel and a corral. The ranch was established in this remote, volcanic area by a Basque sheepherder and a West Virginia cattle rancher in the early 1900's. The buildings are in a remarkable condition. The site is open year round, but the road to get here is rough and recommended for four-wheel drive and high clearance. There is a single water source and restroom.
