Originally, I took photos of this grain elevator on our tour because I was struck by the stark contrast of this human-built structure arising out of the natural foliage in the foreground. Today, as I was researching this location as a possible highlight, I was stunned to learn that in 2018, just three years before our visit, this grain elevator was the scene of a greater than 5 million dollar embezzlement scheme by the elevator manager! Thanks to komoot, I learned something I would not have otherwise known.
