The history of the slaughter mill has been documented since 1722. At that time, Jürgen Spanhoff and Heinrich Siaucken from the north received approval from the government of Anhalt-Zerbst - Jeverland belonged to this principality from 1667 to 1793 - to build a “pearl barley mill” east of the former Jever harbor (Schlachte). In October 1732 the mill burned down, but was rebuilt in 1733. In 1798 the Schlachtmühle was the only Pellmühle in Jeverland.
