Tips
This tower is the last surviving part of the medieval castle Ortenstein. During the Thirty Years' War, large quantities of gunpowder were stored in Meran, which were later kept in this same keep for a long time for security reasons. Today, the Powder Tower is accessible via a modern staircase and is a great lookout tower over Meran and the Burggrafenamt.
