About two kilometers from Larnaka (Larnaca), in the village of Tersefanou (where the medieval village of Apera once stood), is the chapel of Agios Georgios Arperas.

The chapel was built in 1745 by the interpreter (the so-called dragoman) Christofakis Konstantinou. A fresco depicts him and his family as founders of the chapel, which also houses many icons created and signed by the painter Ioannikios. The fresco by Christofakis Konstantinou and his family is said to depict the moment when they dedicated the church to Saint George (Agios Georgios) - in gratitude for the successful completion of the difficult construction project of Larnaca's Kamares Aqueduct, led by Christofakis Konstantinou.

With the beginning of Ottoman rule over Cyprus, the office of dragoman was introduced, which was finally abolished in 1821 during the Greek Revolution (also called the Greek War of Independence) against the Ottoman Empire. Dragomaniacs acted as the liaison between the pasha (a high-ranking military officer) and the local people. After the Pasha, the dragomaniacs were the second most important political figures.

This small, beautiful chapel is located in the small port of Ayia Nappa in a beautiful square surrounded by restaurants, cafes and small tourist shops. It is the ideal place to relax for a few minutes.
