    What is the Palio del'oca? The Palio del'oca is a competition between the seven contrade (neighborhoods) of Mortara. The event is based on a Gioco dell'oca vivente, where participants earn points through archery. The name “oca” refers to the goose, which plays a central role in this unique game.

    How is the event going? Every year, on the last Sunday of September, the contrade gather for a colorful and historic corteo storico (historical parade). Then the actual game begins, where participants shoot their bows to score points. It's a peculiar mix of archery skills and strategy.

    The meaning and tradition The Palio del'oca is deeply rooted in local history and culture. It brings the community together and celebrates the pride of each contrada. The winning contrada receives the honor and prestige of winning the Palio.
