Magdeburg owes the current splendor of the green oasis on the north-eastern outskirts of Magdeburg to the famous royal Prussian garden director. It was Lenné who was commissioned in 1829 to transform the initially agricultural and horticultural site into a stately park. The park was complemented by the horse racing track built in 1906, which became a social attraction.
