Witold Plapis was active after the war in the Warsaw Reconstruction Office. In the years 1951–1957 he organized and became the head of the first in Poland Scientific Department of Landscape Architecture at the Institute of Town Planning and Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. He was also a co-founder of the Kampinos National Park
