One morning in 2012, Goes was startled by the news that there was a monster or a dragon in the fortress! How it got there was a mystery... Some time later it turned out to be the work of local artist Wilco Traas. The citizens of Goes adopted Vessie (a combination of Ness the Loch Ness Monster and the Fortress) with much love. The community may not have been entirely happy with the way Vessie moved into the Veste, but thankfully they also have the heart and Vessie was allowed to stay.
