Volunteers, clubs, schools, apprentices, companies and last but not least the city of Heidenheim worked hand in hand. On the basis of the legacy of a Schnaitheimer citizen donations and donations worth 150,000 euros came together. Thus, on 21 December 2000 - just in time for the third millennium - the Grand Sundial was handed over to the city.
