Locals have long called the area between Niederkreuzstetten and Hipples Alaska. Windmills, wide hills, open landscape are the props, the main actors are the wind and in autumn and winter the sometimes quite uncomfortable temperatures. The mixture makes Alaska an exciting experience and even in the harvested, wind-swept, gray state, the area has its charm!
If you risk a look to the right, you can see the two domes of the Goldhaube on the Buschberg on the horizon.
Incidentally, Hipples paid tribute to Alaska by naming the road on which one rolls into town "Alaska Road".
The path is well paved from Niederkreuzstetten to Hipples - traffic would only be allowed to residents, in fact nobody really keeps to it. But you won't find more than 1-2 cars anyway.
