The Roman fort of Irgenhausen dates back to the 3rd or 4th century and is the largest Roman fort in Switzerland. The period of its construction and its purpose is not entirely clear, as no written evidence exists. It probably secured the Roman road from Kempraten to Winterthur.

Very nice view of the Pfäffikersee and the surrounding area. There is a good fireplace here and plenty of shade from the large trees in the courtyard of the castle. Ideal for a barbecue fun!
