At the top of this impressive lookout over the Rio Major, it doesn't look like anything has ever been built, but the name already makes us doubt our hasty deduction. Around the eighth century, with the collapse of the Visigothic powers and the arrival of Islam, many mountain populations were left helpless and a complex lordly hierarchy was established to defend themselves against invasions and looting; Arget Castle was one of those inaccessible lookouts that could be found everywhere. Whatever the type of structure that stood here, it was demolished during the 11th century, with the loss of independence of those scattered and small populations and also with the arrival of a more hegemonic feudal power; the same fate affected the disappeared castles of Miralles, Bufalaranya, Sant Climent and what we will see, on this same excursion, of Bac de la Grillera. If we turn carefully on the E side of the hill we can still see the remains of what could be a wall. As you can guess the 360º views are spectacular. Attention! on the climb, both up and down.
