The veneration meant that the faithful exchanged the needles they wore for those of the Virgin Mary on a pad, which, according to popular belief, had miraculous properties. The theme of bridesmaids often appears in the collective imagination. As for the Virgin of the Needles, if the bride made a piece of clothing for the chosen boy, with the needle attached to the virgin, the chances of getting married increased.
