Nice little lake, in the middle of the forest, where you would not expect it.

The Köpferstausee, built in 1933, is located in the east of Heilbronn at the confluence of Köpferbach and Trefflinsklinge in the Köpfertal nature reserve. Its main task is to protect the dense development below the building from flooding. Before the construction of the Köpferstausees 1933 it came in heavy thunderstorms several times to flooding the valleys with orders in the Pfühlstraße and adjoining streets. In the planning of the dam at that time, additional aspects such as local recreation and fisheries were included, so that the plant received a permanent storage. To remedy these grievances then the Köpferstausee was built in the years 1933-1936. The planning at the time provided for a retention volume of approx. 23,000 m³. The Köpferstausee was, like all dams before the war, built as a dam with the main objective of flood protection and planned and built according to the state of the art. After the production of the Köpferstausees, there were no more flood problems in the Pfühlstraße, the adjoining streets and in the main collecting channels in the city area. A safety check of the dam in 1999 revealed serious deficiencies, so that the lake was drained in 2003. The dam and the Ablassbauwerk was completely renovated. Shallow water zones were created. The refurbishment work was completed in 2005 and the lake was completely rebuilt by spring access by the fall of 2006. The lake has been released for fishing since 2007.
Fishery: The Crop Lake may be fished from sunrise to sunset from May to October.
