Paleochora, a small charming village on a southwestern peninsula of Crete. The town is cut off from the rest of the island by a mountainous area covered with olive groves. Paleochora was built on the ruins of the ancient town of Kalamydi. It is the capital of the municipality of Pelekanos and is currently one of the fastest growing tourist towns in Crete.

Paleochora is the largest town in the southwest of Crete and is located on a peninsula with great views in all directions. There are no hotels, but there is an old castle (Selino), a long beach and numerous taverns.
